Premiere Progression Blog Post 6

I have now finished with the monologue clips and audio. I have not changed anything about the audio because I felt that the background music that come with the monologue was perfect for the clips which I have chosen; which is an added bonus. I have also decided not to add a clip for the last part of the monologue because I felt that when it turned black it looked really effective; especially for the clip which I will be using next. It will make it more sudden and start to make the trailer more dramatic.
Character Falling Clip

I will now be adding a new clip to the trailer. This clip will be based on the main character themselves. As I mentioned above, this clip will start to make the trailer look more dramatic and also make it start to come together. I will be taking this falling clip from the Tombradier Walkthrough.

I made sure that the source tab was on in the viewing panel and dragged the walk-through to the viewing panel. I then used the In and Out Tool to make a mark at 00:01:25:24 and 00:01:30:18. This clip is where a character is falling. I wanted to use this clip after the monologue because it was really dramatic but also makes you question, why is she falling!?. I then dragged the clip down into the Project Clips Bin and renamed it 'Character Falling'

I then dragged the clip to the timeline at the end of the monologue audio. I played back the whole video to see how it looked. It worked really well the clip did after the monologue. The only thing is that I found that was the trouble the new clip did not have the two black lines like the previous clips did. This made it a bit odd, because you went from a small clip to a larger one

So, I have decided to try to resize the clip so that there are two black lines which will match with the previous clips by double clicking on the clip in the view panel on the right hand side of the screen. However, this did not work very well, because I resized the clip with a corner square, then tried to widen it with a square on the right hand side, and it just resized it in the wrong way. So, My only option at the moment is to crop it.

I used the crop and it worked out loads better than I anticipated. I thought that I would be loosing a lot of the video clip from both the top and the bottom, however I did not. Which was a big relief, otherwise I would have had to go back and resize all of the clips, meaning that I could loose quality and become pixelated.

To get to the crop I went to the Effects Panel > Video Effects > Transform > Crop. I then selected the clip and then clicked on Effects Control. I changed the crop percentages for both the top and the bottom only. This is because I still wanted the width to be the same size as the fit, but I wanted to cut some off the top and the bottom on that it matched the previous clips [as mentioned above]. I only went with 20% because it was enough that it looked like the other clips, but also enough that a lot of the clip is still in tack and that you can still see everything that happens.

Now the video part of the clip is sorted, I am now not sure about the audio part. I am not sure whether the audio works with the trailer, or whether it is parts of the audio which do not work with it. I had another watch through and though it was the first part of the audio.
Clip of the Audio cut with the Razor Tool
So, what I decided to do was to cut the audio away. To do this, first of all I Unlinked the video from the audio. I then selected the Razor Tool, I then played the clip back to where I wanted to remove the first part of the audio and lined it up where the timeline curser was and cut it. I then deleted the little section of the two. I then moved the audio that was left next to the monologue and then stretched the audio to the end of the clip. I played it back and felt so much better about it, I think it worked so much better than it previously did. This is because it started off quite quiet after the monologue finished instead of massive loud booming music, which I found to be really effective.
