Premiere Progression Blog Post 4

Snow Castle Clips

I at this point in time I am not sure about the next clip. I am not sure whether to have one big clip to cover the whole next sentence or whether to two have two separate clips to cover the break in the middle to the end of the sentence. Either way I thinking at this point whether to have some different landscapes scenes except from castle ones to break it up a bit and make it look more adventurous.

I had a little play with the using two different clips, however, I felt that it will not work very well, because there would not be much time to see the clips between one another. Also, when I will be adding transitions between the clip I am not how long they will last between the clips so it might effect the time rate of the clips. So, I decided to have one long clip.

The next clip which I have added to the monologue piece is a snowy scene which I thought really worked with the next sentence. Where it looks like the main character is off out to make her mark in the world, which she does not realize it is not the world she actual lives in. I feel it gives off that confused feeling, but at the same time suspense seeing if she will finally realize.

This clip was also from the video VTS_08_1_x264. I used the In and Out tool again and set them at 56:18 seconds and 01:04:17 minutes. I will be using this entire clip so there is no reason this time to use the razor tool for this clip.

I then dragged it down into the Project Clips bin and renamed it as 'Snow Castle'.

I then dragged it on to the time line at the end of the monologue audio and Unlinked the video and audio from each other and deleted the audio. I then dragged it across next to the Army/Castle clip.

I again had to resize the clip. I did this by double clicking on the clip till it was displaying a orange lining around the clips and had little squares which I used to resize the clip. I resized the clip so that the edges of the clip were touching the overall fit of the trailer.

I did not need to crop this clip as there was no writing it. However, I was unsure whether to add some effects to the clip itself, because its quite a powerful piece on its own. As well as this, I cant really change the brightness because it is already bright because snow is white. Unless I wanted to make it look like there is shadow across the land then I would have changed it. So, I gave it a go to see what it looked like, even thought the white really brings a bit of brightness to the trailer.

Transform Effect: Brightness Changed on the Clip
I changed the brightness so that I looked darker, it looks really effective and works. You can still see the bright white snow, but it looks like a bit of darkness has roamed across the land. However, the only problem is when you play the video back it becomes quite blurry and makes the clip look really pixalated no matter what percentage I placed it at. So I decided not to add a brightness effect to it. I tried other effects, but no matter what I did the clip was pixalated, so, in the end I just left the clip as it originally was. I feel that the bright white breaks up the dark clips which were used previously before it.
