Current DVD Labels

Now I have the dimensions of the DVD label I will now be looking at the current DVD labels which are out there. This will be able to guide me on how to design my DVD label, what kind of features that are used on them, themes, colours etc.

So, in saying this I then decided to look at a DVD label for one of the DVDs I have looked at previously to see what they have done. This DVD label will be for Inkheart which is a DVD as mentioned I have looked at previous before. So, looking at this DVD label and comparing it to the DVD cover it is pretty obvious what the DVD companies who create the cover and labels actually do. They takes items, themes, colour schemes from the DVD inlay and place them on the DVD Label.

For instance, they have used the same images that were used on the DVD inlay and just rearranged them on the disc label. They have used the same colour schemes makes it look similar to the inlay. The only items that are different are the logos which are on the inlay buy have had their colour changed in order to see them and the right around the disc.

In saying all this, I will take this idea/theory into account when designing and creating my DVD label and use themes and colors that I have used previously with the DVD inlay. However, It has stated in the brief that I will have to use Illustrator and not Photoshop for the design of the DVD label. So, I will have to bear in mind that I will need to create and use vector based tools and imagery in order to create the final product.
